India and Its Rich History By Indian Archaeologist- Anica Mann

Was Dwarka the old submerged city? What is the other Indian civilization we found? To answer all such questions, and questions related to Indian history, we have an Indian archaeologist Anica Mann on The Ranveer Show.

This conversation helped me gain a much-enriched perspective when it comes to History. Anica Mann is an archaeologist. Archeologists are people who dedicate their lives to understanding the past of humankind.

Start Of Archaeology In India

“I think the first recorded man finding another man’s thing comes from a colonialist. For example, the Archaeological Survey of India is the archeological institute in India but was founded by the British. He wasn’t an archeologist, but he was a treasure hunter. He went around all parts of India. The guy who found Bodhgaya was him. He didn’t find a way to preserve it. He intended to safeguard it in the institution.”

“Only 10% of archaeology has been discovered. Archeology is the history of human history. The true history is not uncovered. In India, anywhere we dig, we would find something.”

India And Its Civilization

“Mesopotamia, Indus-valley civilization or Harappan civilization were contemporary. They were trading with each other. We have found seals in Mesopotamia in the Indus-valley civilization. Iran came in a little later. They were living a nomadic life for a long time. Iran was like what the Vatican is to Christians.”

\"\"“Everyone wants to come to India. There is something about the consistent population, the climate, and the richness of India. Everything that you need is available in India.”

“Only 10% of human history is ever been found. Everything that we have put together from everything we have found in the past. It is vast, like the knowledge of space. We don’t know everything about the past. Things can change in the future, so we need to be open.”

Alien

“The whole alien thing is a theory. Saying that a building structure is odd and we can make it now, so humans didn’t make it aliens made them. I am not going to accept that analogy so easily. I think humans are capable of great things.”

“In 2017, I took a road trip in India of around 9000km. I visited the part where India connects to Sri Lanka, where they talk about Ram Setu. I don\’t know about the Ram Setu, but the land mass over there is shallow that up to the most recent time, Sri Lanka and India were connected visibly. That place is called Dhanushkodi. It was a Dutch outpost. A terrible tsunami came and washed it out. History and geography play an important role in the understanding moment of living creatures.”

The Submerged City Of Dwarka

“Dwarka was just found off the coast of Gujrat. It was a well-planned city that could be a trading port. It eventually submerged into the water. I currently work with the archeology of India and my priority right now is underwater archeology to see how different and big India was in the past.”

\"\"“In archaeology, we have something called AOI, which is the area of interest. It is important because we can learn about the global perspective of the past. Right now, I am working in Rakhigarhi which is in Haryana. It is a village, and it existed probably in 10000 BCE. That area is filled up with dust and it has formed a mound, and there is a heavily populated village on top.”

Rann Of Kutch

“The Indus valley civilization spread in India is vast. Most of it is an unexcavated site or mildly excavated site. Dholavira is one such place. It is near a sea area, and it is between India and Pakistan border in Gujrat. Rann of Kutch is a salt dessert and one of the most difficult places to live because food to grow and getting water there is difficult.”

“But about 2000 or 1500 BCE, in the middle of Rann of Kutch, not only people lived there but also built a civilization and learned techniques to filter salt water and grow food. When I was there, I was baffled about human capability.”

Human Intellect

“Humans and their mind and intellectual power for newer experiences started right when they started hunting. Hunting an animal that looks much bigger than you takes a lot of guts. Even to hunt herbivorous.”

India And Its Rich Heritage

“In India, consciousness is the main thing that yoga had you tap into. If you have the right aid, you can. There are so many texts in the Indian library. The philosophical text that came out of India was mind-bogglingly deep. It will blow your mind when you read about consciousness.”

“Instability of the structure is one of the reasons that many places in India are unexplored. One temple in the south talks about a closed door that can’t be opened because of a curse, but I think it is a conspiracy. Even the Bhangarh Fort is said to be hunted, but a security guard is there every day and night. In saying that various forces exist beyond our capability to access.”

“The mantras that we chant are in a particular rhythmic fashion. When you do it rhythmically, it creates a vibration. You feel calm, and when you are in a yoga ashram, the energy over there is different. As people are working in that environment, the wheel has been set in motion in that way.”

What Fascinated Her About Indian History?

“What fascinated me about studying history was the idea of India and the role India played during the ancient and early medieval times. India has 6 top universities. People from Japan, Indonesia, etc came there to study. In the translated script, it was found that to get into these universities, they needed to give a preliminary test in Sanskrit.”
