Sara Ali Khan is one of India\’s most fantastic & smartest Bollywood actresses Sara Ali Khan. She started her career with the film \”Kedarnath\” and \”Simmba\” which got her all the love and respect of the audiences. Sara opens up on her Bollywood journey – after doing two hit films, she faced a down period of some of her films not doing so well. And then, again, came back with the wonderful role in \’Atrangi Re\’. Since then, she has never been overlooked in the industry. It was my absolute honor to have her on the show.
This is one of the conversations that I\’ve been looking forward to for a very long time. To create a fantastic podcast, you need a fantastic mind and that is Sara Ali Khan. Someone with the utmost intelligence, eloquence, and most importantly someone who is a great conversationalist. They call her \’The Brightest In Her Generation\’, and you\’re going to see why – on this podcast.
I have been looking forward to this conversation with Sara Ali Khan for a long time. She is called the smartest of her generation, and you will find that out soon.
Happy Reading!
Fame
“I don’t know if it is fame for me anymore. One gets a lot of love but also gets criticism. So I feel it is more about being known. There is an element of touch me not, in the word fame. People in our generation don’t feel it. It could be because of the internet or the paparazzi. The aura and mystery of the stardom are not there anymore.”
Traveling
“I don’t like free time. I avoid it, but if I get time, I go trekking. Once, we went trekking near Tulian lake. We should have stayed there. But we decided to come back the same day. But by the time we reached there, we got the sunset. I love it. But after sunset, it got dark, and we couldn’t see much.”
“There is a thought that Bollywood people just talk rubbish. We are not taken seriously. Like I feel people don’t want to listen to us speaking about spirituality or travel. It could be one of the reasons why I feel actors shy away from talking about such topics.”
“Regardless of the long-form or short-form content, I feel that sometimes when we are aware of what works for us, it is time it won’t work for us. My need for being loud and borderline attention-seeking came from the people calling me bindass. So we must go back to who we are. At the start, I was just being who I am, but with time I started feeling the need to apologize for being who I am.”
Mistakes Made
“I have made mistakes. Like my performance in Love Aaj Kal was horrible. I was not convincing in Coolie, and I am aware of that. It is also an expectation game. Being an actor is a part of who I am, but it is not all of who I am. I am learning from my mistakes and become a little harsh on myself after Love Aaj Kal.”
Practicing Meditation
“My stylist is my meditation teacher. She got me into a happiness program and taught me Sudarshan Kriya. So that is what I do. I do full moon meditation. I want to grow in life, and if meditation helps me with it, that would be great. But I do it because I like it. It helped me to channel my energy.”
About Saif Ali Khan
“I observed that my dad kept bouncing back. Whether he gave a super hit film or a flop, by Monday, he was normal again. One more thing is he lives by having a balanced life. The need to go to the countryside and live matters to him. Working 365 days is not good. You need to take a break because you need to unwind and learn. It helps you to reset.”
Doubting Herself
“I don’t doubt myself. I realize now that I should not try to entertain people around on the set. I was doing that during Love Aaj Kal because I wasn’t convinced about my craft. That is an uncomfortable space to be in. I am saying that there are moments, but it is not healthy to entertain that thought for long.”
Crying
“I cry when I feel low. After crying, I feel a little better. I cry when I am free, and I am restless. I feel I am running out of time and want to go far.”
“I feel jealousy and envy around me. People around me keep me grounded. I have a sense of competition and feel it is important. It is up to you to keep yourself around people who keep you grounded.”
About Being Overweight
“Sometimes you can go into a downward spiral. When I was in college, I was fat, so I was like I am anyways fat how does it matter? I will eat more. I still grew fat again in January. I have to be mindful about eating. I have problems with my weight. After college, Karan Johar came with a movie and said I had to lose weight. I was 94 kg, but I reduced it to 56 kg.”
“I used to eat a lot of pizza, burgers, etc. I need the motivation to lose weight. I needed to realize I was huge. It was unhealthy. If affected my hormones.”
“The second I feel low, I go towards food.”
About Her Mom
“My mom is my strength. She has been very supportive. Her purpose in life is to see me and my brother happy. I love to travel with her. She is just my favorite. She is already happy seeing me doing movies. She is happy seeing me in a peaceful state.”
